My Recipe To A High PR

My Recipe To A High PR

Some of you many know that this blog launched just 5 weeks ago on November 26th with the first post, and now on January 2nd Blogict has a Google Page Rank (PR) of 3. I have had a few people ask me how I did it, and although its been said before on a few other blogs I am going to tell you how I got a PR3 in a short 5 weeks.

What I have done

Through out the past couple of weeks I have employed a couple of different link building techniques I have picked up in the past, and they worked like a charm for me.

1. DoFollow blog commenting

I didn’t comment all that much on dofollow blogs, but the little bit of commenting that I did certainly helped. Dofollow blogs are simply blogs that allow search engines to follow links in their comments, and the hardest part is actually finding high PR dofollow blogs to comment at. I asked uncle Google and he gave me a couple of lists, like the small one Rajaie pulled together, and a some decent directories full of dofollow blogs. A quick tip: Remember to read Donny’s tips to comment the right way on dofollow blogs.

2. Became a top commentator.

I believe this was one of the biggest contributing factors to the PR jump here at Blogict. All you really have to do is become an active member at blogs that display the top commentators in their sidebar. Not only will you get that valuable PR but a ton of traffic depending on the blogs you participate in. Yan from thoushallblog.com has come up with an awesome List Top Commentator Blogs, check it out if you want to get serious about pagerank.

3. Used Forums For Link Building

I recently talked about pulling traffic to your blog from forums, but it’s no secret that if used right forums are a great link building tool. All you really have to do is drop your links in relevant threads without spamming, and use your signature for links. I found an awesome list of dofollow forums at the linkers blog but I mainly used my favorite forum WTF.

4. A little Social Bookmarking

I honestly haven’t put all that much time into social bookmarking but I can say I’ve dugg one or two of my posts and stumbled a couple of em’ also. I definitely plan on using social bookmarking a lot later on. Hopefully this month I can submit all my posts to the major dofollow social bookmarking sites.

What I Plan On Doing & You Should Too

Along with what I’m already doing and doing it more I want to add a few things into my link building schedule during the next few months.

5. Create WordPress Themes.

Through out 2009 I plan on releasing WordPress themes, one or two for free and a couple paid. I have always wanted to do this, as you can get a bunch of site wide links on the blogs of people that use it.

6. Hold a BIG contest.

Well I want to hold a contest slash raffle some time in the next two months. Why? Because I have seen the effects of contests on quiet a few of my friends blogs and forums; so I want to try it for myself in hopes that it will not only make Blogict more popular but bring in a ton of links for that PR6 that I want by December of 09′.

7. Linking from free secondary blogs.

I just started this today but I can’t remember where I read about it. Anyway, I headed over to the two major sites that give free hosted blogs; WordPress and Blogger, and created sister blogs which I’m really just going to write simple articles at and link to posts here at Blogict through them. It’s an easy and free way to get a few links and I actually hope to have 10 of these free blogs by the end of January. I’ll tell you all how well this goes over and if it’s worth the time.

8. Any more ideas?

Other than paying for links do you have any other ideas that I or any one else can use? Share them in a comment, and if I like it enough I will give you a pretty little link.

  5. It doesn’t sound too hard at all. I’ve made the decision to network with other bloggers and comment occassionally, such as yours. My PR went up from PR0 and I think it’s a result of reaching out.

A contest sure sounds like a great idea and I’ve been pondering on it but I’m still not sure how to approach it. If you need a sponsor for your contest I’d be interested.

Nice tips. Yes, releasing themes is a great way to increase inbound links and pagerank. I have a few themes in the pipeline over here that just need to get cleaned up a bit before they are released.

Plugins are also great. As an advanced WP user, I always create plugins, but usually they are for my use or for clients. But if I take a little bit of time to clean them up and prepare a ‘Read Me’ file and a screenshot, there’s my plugin.

Anyway, Good luck. You sure seem to have a real game plan. :-)

  8. Thanks for this article… I hadn’t realized that google updated the page ranks. My blog is now a 2! And I started right around the time you did. I’m pretty excited.

I haven’t really started dropping links in forums yet, but maybe that’s next. Thanks for the tips!

  10. I utilized the similar methods as you and no wonder my blog is also a PR 3 with plenty of PR1 to PR3 internal pages.

Moreover, I attribute most of my PR success to having links on Digital Point forums (PR 6 forum).

@ TechZoomIn: Thanks bud, im glad you liked it enough to subscribe, and congrats on your PR4.

@ Ajith: Dude, I can’t believe I forgot that one, I’m gonna ad a little bit about content tonight. But yeah content is pretty important to the PR Recipe. :P

@ Rowell: Getting a PR really isn’t as hard as some make it seem, and yeah networking is a great thing to do in the blogosphere. And about the contest ill contact you as soon as I put it together.

@ Shirley: Themes really are great, especially if you get one that goes viral. The only real downfall of themes are that most aren’t advanced enough in the design and the coding aspects. Tell me how your themes work out (ill be watching out for them). As for plugins, Im not near advanced enough for those.
And thanks, I have a monthly link building plan for the year :P

@ Rowell, again: Yeah, the upside of 7 is that it’s pretty much a guaranteed permanent life time link. Thanks dude, I try to be a little different when I can.

@ Diana: No problem, im glad you liked it, congrats on your pr2 and as for the linking from forums. It really, really works. Give it a shot.

    @ Dennis: Thanks dude.

@ Forsaken: Congrats on the PR3 dude. DigitalPoint (DP) is definitely awesome for links and signature link traffic.

@ Rick: Guest posting could be pretty good for link building but I suggest it more so for promotion and traffic.

  13. Farrhad A says:

    Nice post Ardit.
Btw time is no factor in getting a PR, it has been proved.

@Forsaken DP is “no-follow” so those links have not helped in the PR ;)

  14. Ardit says:

Thanks Farrhad, actually the links at DP are dofollow but don’t usually get indexed or something along those lines.

  15. The Moneyac says:

Oh crap mate, this is actually what I needed. Great stuff indeed.

Especially thanks for the links of top commentator blogs and dofollow blogs, that helped me a lot.

Thank you Ardit, this one was a great one.

    Cheers,

  17. PR rank of 3 in 5 short weeks is very impressive indeed? Which one of these do you think was the biggest contributing factor just making the top commentator list?

I’m doing pretty much all of these now except the forum posting. I just haven’t seemed to find time to add this into the mix but I think I should since I keep hearing again and again how valuable it can be.

@ Chris (the moneyac): No problem dude, glad you liked it and it helped you out.

@ Gerald: Thanks, I thought it was pretty good :P
And yes making it onto a lot of top commentator lists at the right time was the biggest factor, no doubt about that.
And you should give forum posting a shot, unlike top commentator lists they are permanent and theirs no maintenance required.

Hey, some really good tips there, thanks :) My blog only made PR1, but I guess thats to do with the very little promoting I have been doing for it, and the outbound links from my blog.

  21. Swastik says:

    Hey Rdit,

    Great post dude!

I also got a PR3, but I dont know why

I guess passive promotion was important in my case.

  22. Ardit says:

@ Dan: Thanks, PR1 is better than what you had so, I say congrats on it.
I haven’t spent too much time spreading my link, comments are maybe the most time consuming.

@ Swastik: Congrats on your PR3 dude, I’ve seen tour site linked to a couple of times. lol

  25. Hi Ardit,

Grats on achieving PR3. I am not so lucky but still gotten a PR2. I guess it got to do with the posting frequency since I usually post once every week. Like what Aijith has said, writing quality content is probably the best way of achieving a high PR. This is especially so if your blog post is a linkbait.

@ Wei: Thanks, and congrats on your PR2. I still haven’t found time to add to the post but yes the content is a huge part of PR. But if your a link master you could have crappy content and a high pr.

  27. Commentluv says:

Congrats! A PR3 is 5 months is nice indded. Apart from social bookmarking, I’ve done practically everything in the mix. Keep blogging and keep link building.
