RSS subscribers, are a constant form of traffic if monetized correctly, sorta like a running faucet of traffic, but we’ll get into that stuff another time.
Converting your visitors to RSS subscribers is actually very easy if you use the tips and tricks in this post in tandem with your good content.
1. Make it obvious
Not everyone makes blogs so they can’t spot a an RSS link like us. You need to make it obvious, use the good ole orange RSS button and make sure its at the top right of the blog. That’s where most visitors are gonna look for that little orange thing at first. Trying to be different here could cost you some subscribers.
Just don’t make it too obvious, like pasting a huge RSS button on your page, it makes you look desprate and no one likes desperate people.
2. Give em options
Not every one wants to read through RSS readers. So offer more than just an option of subscribing with their feed readers, email subscriptions work well as most people check their mail daily. This usually works for the not so tech-savy people out their.
3. Post a series, a good one.
Posting a series is a great way to get real natural subscribers. Series are those 2-4 posts that all go together but are posted separately in “parts.” If the first parts of the series are really good then people are gonna subscribe to see the rest of them.
4. Use a dedicated subscription page
You see these pages all over the place, they have a ton of reasons why you should subscribe to the blog your at. If you can manage to scrounge together some really good reasons on why people should subscribe, you can convert visitors and readers into subscribers. You can even promote this page through adsense or advertising medians.
5. Lure em in with freebies
Everyone likes free stuff, so bribe your visitors with something free to subscribe. A eBook, a subscription or even a nice weekly newsletter. The better your product is the more subscribers your gonna get.
Their is only one drawback to getting subscribers this way, it’s that they tend to just un-subscribe from your feed after they get what they wanted, like your free eBook.
6. Start a contest
When starting a contest you could have them subscribe to your blog as an entry. The results you get from starting contests are like those of offering freebies. They may not be the best quality subscribers but they definitely come in large numbers. When starting a contest you could have them subscribe to your blog as an entry.
7. Just ask for it
Their is nothing wrong with just asking people to subscribe to your blog. Infact even some of the big guys have a simple line at theend of each post asking the readers to subscribe to their blog. But don’t go crazy, no one wants to be pushed into doing it, and it gets quiet annoying if they get asked too many times.
That’s it, those are all the ways that I can come up with to get more subscribers. But you have to keep in mind that the none of these will work if you don’t have good quality content (the freebies one might ;P).
How do you get people to subscribe to your blog?

“6. Start a contest” is definitely many bloggers are using to drive up subscriptions.
I was reading in another blog (forgot which one :p) that occasional posts that are only accessible by feed subscribers can help in increasing subscriptions. Make a bumper post, and let it be seen by only your feed subscribers. But this method is risky… A boring post can cause you loosing your subscribers for ever. They would not bother to sign up to read another “useless” article.

Interesting, I have heard of people giving things away to only to subscribers through their RSS feeds.
But that’s definitely an interesting idea.
One of the most effective and fastest way is giving free items like an ebook AND hosting a contest. :)
