All too often I see the question, “How can I make money on my blog?” on those webmaster forums. I always tell them the same thing, ‘monetize your blog using ads.’ Yes, Blog monetization, the thing everyone talks about but just can’t accomplish.
Type Of Ad’s You Can Publish
1. Private ads.
Private advertising is when you independently sell ad space on your blog. It’s one of the most profitable ways of publishing ads as you get money directly from the advertisers. The middle man gets cut out of the picture, and no one gets to take a cut of your pie. One of the best ad publishing plugins for wordpress is OIOPublisher, it automates the entire process.
With private advertising you get a set amount of money, which could be a liability for some and and an asset for others. If you don’t adjust your price regularly according to traffic and average clicks. You will make less money than you could if you use other types of ads.
2. PPC, PPE and what not.
This is definitely not an option you want to overlook when your trying to figure out whats right for you. PPC (paid per click) advertising is all over the place, some of the most popular are Google’s Adsense, Bidvertiser and Adbrite. PPE (paid per engagement) advertising is still fairly new to most, it pays per an engagement. One of the most popular PPE companies is VideoEgg.
This type of advertising is ideal for high traffic sites as your more likely to a lot of clicks, which means alot of money for you. But just as everything else it has its downfalls too, if you have a low earning niche, you will make less than you can using some thing else.
3. Affiliate Advertising
This type of advertising is pretty hard make money on but if you can figure it out, its a gold mine. We actually use it on this site, you pretty much put ads on your blog that you can make money on if some one clicks it and then does something, weather its buying some hosting or signing up for something. This type of advertising is hard to convert but if you can figure out what type of offers/products work best on your blog you may only need 3 conversions to make as much as you might make with other advertising.
I suggest that you use at least two of these types of ads in tandem on your blog to maximize your earnings potential.
Just as a side note, if your trying to sell ad space on your blog, don’t leave all the spots ad-less, use some affiliate ads to fill it up and maybe make some money while you wait for advertisers.
And make sure you subscribe to the blog cause soon I’m gonna write about ad placement.

Yeah, i found out about it just playing some games online.

Farrhad A’s last blog post..Question and Answers: 1
Thanks for bringing that up Farrhad, the reason i didn’t include it in the post is cause I don’t personally recommend it for blogs. Unless you have a really high traffic blog..
The thing is, i get like 20k page views a month but comparatively less clicks.

For your high traffic blog it might be worth it IF and ONLY if you get a good amount for every thousand impressions.
It can range from $2 to $20, so if you can find a good one, go for it and tell me how it goes.
Great post. I would recommend selling private ads because doing that would make us look a bit professional than the others.

Hey bud, Thanks for the comment.
I didn’t really think of PPP, its not su much a type of ad you put in your side bar.
Anyway, you may be getting denied because you have a low pr, and low traffic, as no one wants to get a review of their site some where it won’t be seen.
